Inexplicably, Wordbay stopped working across all my sites on unlimited last week.
Not only that, but it took out all sites with it installed.
Had to rename wordbay folder via FTP to get back in.
Quick e-mail to Mark Daniels (wordbay developer), and he's as puzzled as me.
It does point to a change at Unlimited, but they say no..
Anyway, It works if I switch off geo-location. Mark's changing the code for version 1.6, out soon.
10/10 for support, Mark!

Nightmare! | ddos attacks | Site Outage | wordbay
That was a bad one (yesterday). First, I find that all three of my Jab Web Sites are down again.
Jab Web say that their server is being hit by ddos / spam attacks.. presumably not targetted at me.
Anyhow, that all gets sorted, so I take the opportunity to upgrade all the Wordpress plugins.
Unfortunately, that meant that wordbay got overwritten by an obsolete version. With time running short, I tried to manually upgrade it, but managed to kill one site stone-dead.
This was my main cash-cow site.. :(
I fixed it by deleting wordbay and re-installing it from home, but only after getting locked out of thewordbay for a while first (it thinks I'm a ddos attack!)
While I'm on, I must mention that the wordbay plugin is no longer free. The author has decided to start charging, as it's taking up so much time to support. I think the price is $17. Honestly, that's a bargain.. :)

A little while ago, I added manufacturer profile pages, but these were only linked to from the "profiles" navigation link. I have now added automatic hotlinks on each RSS post
It works like this,: as a new RSS post is created, a custom field called profile_page is set with whatever the correct profile page is for that feed. Eg "Audi" In the main-index template, there is a piece of php that uses the custom field to build a link to the profile page.
So an Audi post has a link that says "Click here for the Audi profile page..".
If there's no value set, the link doesn't appear. Neat.
The profile pages now feature related ebay listings via the newly-installed Wordbay plugin. No, not the one from wordpress.org. That's obsolete. This is the new one, available only to members of thewordbay.com

Wordbay Beta
We are now running Wordbay Beta 1.4.9 on http://www.cheapcarbooks.com
After some teething troubles caused by file permissions, it's up and running. Thanks for sorting that out, Mark..
Currently using the default_black template.
Before you go running off to Wordpress.org to get this plugin, don't bother. The only version available there is the legacy 1.2.7 one. Wordbay has now moved on, and is only available to Wordbay subscribers.
The new Wordbay website will be up soon (Mark says), so watch out for that.
In the meantime, check out the new listings format at http://www.cheapcarbooks.com
